2/10/2006 03:54:00 PM - Is this bad?
So my pee either smell like fresh roasted coffee or the coffee smells like fresh roasted urine. Either way, when it comes out it's got a nice, nutty, roasted "flavor" to it. (Not that I'm tasting it or anything!) I think I'm just drinking far too much coffee. I don't think I'd ever say that in my life but it's disturbing when that smell comes up when I'm in the bathroom. Far more disturbing than asparagus.
2/10/2006 09:20:00 AM - So who knows how to go about properly copyrighting something to protect intellectual property from being reproduced for evil purposes?
It's the following morning from a work day that went from "wierd..." to "huh?" really quick. Apparently, there are certain factions down here that are aligning themselves against others in this non-professional courtesy way. Essentially, there is something that we here at work have offered for many years and have done successfully. There is another group that is looking to replicate some of our events in the tune of d minor. D for duh and minor being a lesser version. This is all because we do it right and they think it's as easy as stealing it. Our events are established. Our events are successful. Making a move like this against us will only harm our reputation and cause confusion through improper identifying of the brand.
What sucks is that this is all politics. Everything that I wish to stay away from. The only problem is that I have a ton of loyalty to this place. I have every intention of being here and doing what I can to protect what's "mine". If we can't copyright this stuff we WILL do it the right way with the new events that we will come up with along with proper policies and procedures on how supporting members will conduct themselves as representatives of the Museum.

2/09/2006 02:31:00 PM - Random funny stuff.
2/09/2006 10:11:00 AM - Modern Arnis and the online community.
There seems to be quite a bit of in fighting between all the different associations and organizations of the next set of leaders of Modern Arnis after Professor's passing. It's calmed down for the time being, but it's still out there ready to flare back up. My question is why is there so much fighting? Most of it stems from ego. Be it good or bad, right or wrong... It's still ego. One's style is never better than the other. There may be some aspects where it excels farther than the other, but there is always the other side of the coin. Another aspect will be deficient when compared to other said style.
One thing that needs to be looked at is the next generation of leaders in the Arnis/Eskrima/Kali communities need to look at how styles become made and born. In the Philippines, they are normally family styles started back in the days of when the Spanish invaded the islands. The families began practicing in secret within the confies of their homes after converting the bladed styles to new flavors with just a stick (eskrima or yantok.) All of this spawned the mainstream versions that we all know today. Balintawak, Kombatan, Modern Arnis, Kali-Illustrisimo, Sikran (and most currently) MA-80 and FCS. All of these have their roots within the other various family styles from their predecessors.
My point? All of these "new" styles will begin to evolve as the past ones have. (Current instructors already have begun the process.) Family styles to the official, marketable names. The newer, modernized, merketable ones to the next generation of styles. Using that same loose lineage we can go a few generations back and use generalized Arnis. That became a multitude of family styles, including Presas Style Arnis. That formed 2 different styles originally named Modern Anris. Between the 2 Presas brothers, Remy and Ernesto. Remy kept the name Modern Arnis and Ernesto converted his to Kombatan. This leaves at least 2 outlets for the next generations of new "family styles" as the new Instructors, Masters and Grand Masters start to develop and eveole the art. It's all about history repeating itself.
Professor always refered his Modern Arnis as the "art within your art." With this, there should always be a root back to your beginning but a way to always evolve. Specifically, Modern Arnis is a blend of Presas Style, Balintawak and Professor's love of Shotokan Karate and Judo. Even from the time that he came to the states to spread the word through seminars the art was still evolving. Upon meeting up with other known instructors through his travels, he began integrating other aspects of other arts. Wally Jay's Small Circle Jujistsu is a major player in how things evolved state-side, amongst others. All of this is just a testament to what GM Remy wanted and how it's inevitable.

2/08/2006 01:17:00 PM - "Keychains" are woo
Sitting here at work and it's Wednesday... I almost forgot that I had a shippment for my Women's Self Defense Class sent here. It's my small box of Kubotan Keychains. For those that don't know what they are, they are a solid rod of metal, wood or a plastic with a keyring attached to the top for practial uses and beyond. The nice thing about these are that they are so simple to use that applications of self defense are simple to use. Basic techniques and some practice allows the user to really get it going.
The original order was slightly messed up, but the customer service guys with the wholesaler are really quick on their feet and made things work out. I was sick as a dog at the time so it pushed the call back to them back a couple of days. They fixed the issues of missing inventory and late shipment with sending me a new type keychain for my review as a compensation and thank you for being a return customer.
I ordered these:
But they ended up short a couple.
I ended up getting a few of these to replace the ones that were short:
The silver ones on the right side.
Then I got one of these to compensate:
My keys have a happy new home. ^_^

2/07/2006 03:31:00 PM - To think, I posted about a smooth session not too long ago!
Here we are again! Tonight is another season of Martial Arts in Saginaw! I'm happy to say that I've to a great staff of parent helpers and the routine is already established. This will be nothing short of smooth.
I'm a bit nervous about the Bay City class starting up since it's just starting up. Nothing is established. The parents will be a different breed than that of Saginaw. But the up side? It's going to be done that way I want it... Not the way that it's already been done without any consulation of how I want things to be handled.
Either way, it's going to be great and fun for both classes. We are all going to be in the St. Patricks Day Parade next month and that in itself will be woo!
