My Fresh Squeezin's (Blogger)

Ahh, the freshly squozen thoughts of Dalum. I try to post as often as I can, but sometimes life is just too busy to get stuff out in a reasonable amount of time. Please enjoy my random thoughts and drop me a line if you like.

1/26/2006 12:50:00 PM - This audit is going to be the end of me

I'm in the final stages of my responsibilities to this retched thing.  Too bad is this stupid database for the store inventory.  I worked over last night (a different long story) from Midnight-130am on this damn thing and I still have 3 more data sets to go through over 22+ pages of crap.  Everything is goingto be great in 1 year as everything will be done PROPERLY with me in the job.  I don't want to sound all big headed or whatever, but issues of rounding off numbers (dollars!) is something that just shouldn't be done in a business.  It's utterly retarded in any way you look at it.  That's just one "special" aspect of this damn thing.  Inventory will be done on a perpetual basis after I am done getting this to go my way around here.  When that project is completed, the audit won't be such a daunting task.  Arg and stuff.

1/25/2006 03:55:00 PM - Work and the beauty of this friggin audit...

WTF, I just found a huge inherent problem with the existing database and I would have to retypr all of the data, by hand, over again because someone didn't make the database properly.  I'm pissed off.

1/25/2006 12:22:00 PM - Umbrella post!

No it's not raining, I'm just posting a bunch of stuff at one time.

Martial Arts - My Saginaw class just finished up last night.  Everything went great!  Only one parent had a problem with the ranking of her kid and it was more of a "why?" than a Showbiz Mom & Dad getting all up in my face.  She understands and knows that her child needs to try harder.  Bay City is a-go!  I got the backing and blessings from the home office and we are good to go!  I got racked in the hand last night by Seth when we were doing our demo.  It was spot on too!  For some, they would bitch about it day and night.  It kind of sparked a fire that I was missing.  I'm glad there are kids getting high enough to start learning Arnis so it's not so much of a flat line feeling as I teach.  I start Women's Self Defense tonight for Community Ed too.  I'm not getting burned out, it's just feeling like it's a constant.  While happy that a passion in my life is becoming a reality, it's just timing as well.  Maybe more on that later if it gets crazy.

Work - This audit is pissing me off.  What's worse is that the person that's in charge of inventory part of it (the VOLUNTEER Store Manager) is on my back like she's on a mission just to make me snap at her.  She has her info to me.  She will get the digital hard copy once I get it in.  The end result isn't her satisfaction.  It's the MUSEUM AS A WHOLE.  Now that her data is in to me I will be sending it to the audit people for their review.  Ugh...  On top of all that, I have an annual report to produce (it's a huge full color booklet that is sent out to all people involved with the Society so they have an idea of what's been going on.)  Honestly, till I see why this is done, it seems really frivolous and an odd justification that looks like male posturing and puffing of chests when it's not necessary.  Then I have my bi-monthly newsletter to produce and January is almost over.  It might just become a quarterly thing if things don't let up.

Car - It's loud as a mofo.  It's fast as a mofo.  It's great for no snow-of.  The car only needs work asthetitcally.  The car is sound.  The body is great with only 3 minor paint repairs/dings.  The relay for the wipers needs to be fixed since it only runs in 1 speed and there are some odd rattles in the dash when revving at certain RPMs.  Other than my Kia, I've never been happier with a car.

There are other things I could type about but those are on the forefront of my mind.  I'm not sure if anyone has noticed, but I've been trying to keep up with my blog(s) more by essentially forcing myself to put up a post at lest every other day if not every day.

1/24/2006 09:20:00 AM - The weekend of over scheduling

Months ago I was planning a trip to go up north to Atlanta (Michigan, not Georgia) and go to Sno*Drift 2006 to watch the first US ProRally of the year.  The Winter started sucking and wasn't really worthy of calling it Winter and I dismissed going to the event.  Just recently, the weather started getting better for an event such as this but there's no way we were going to get any type of lodging between now and then at a resonable price or time.

After that was dropped from discussion, a few weeks ago Nyracat felt like going to Frankenmuth to see a bunch of professional snow and ice carvers do their thing at a national competition.  Same dates as Sno*Drift.  (January 28-29.)  This would work out much better since Fresh is going to be with us and it would be a nice family thing to go and do.  Nyracat doesn't really like going to races and smelling exhaust so this is probably the next best thing.  (She does like going to the drift meets and seeing n00bs plow into the wall with their daily drivers.)

Next thing I know, my family is calling!  Since my Mom's birthday ran across may parent's recent run to Vegas, they want to celebrate her birthday on, you guessed it...  the 28th and 29th.  So I guess we are going to go down and celebrate a birthday too.  That will be on the 29th.

So let's recap:
Cool cars and sliding in a forest sideways.  Nixed.
Sliding on ice watching people cut ice and snow.  Check.
3 of us going to celebrate my mom's birthday.  Check.

Still looks like fun!  Now we gotta come up with a vat of food to bring down for the party.
