So I made Fresh and Nyracat sit through this wonderful piece of cult classic history (circa 1985) last night. Man I love(d) this movie. It was awesome then as it was last night. The horrible acting aside. This is pretty much one of the best martial arts flicks ever generated on US soil. (One of the other ones is Big Trouble in Little China, but that's a different post all together...) This movie had great choreography due to someone's father being a fight choreographer... *COUGH*Ernie Reyes Sr*COUGH*
Anyway, Fresh thought it was cheesy and awesome. There were times during the final 2 fights where she got all up in the chair because it was getting exciting. (Man, Ernie Reyes Jr was always an idol to me as I was growing up because of 2 things. An EXCELLENT martial artist at such a young age and being a Filipino. He was somewhere under his teen years when he filmed the movie and when I saw it I was about the same age. Ahhh the wonders of film and release dates. He's like 4 years older than me.)
So through the whole flick, Nyra just kept giving me the peanut gallery. It was much deserved. The movie isn't some great film work or anything. One thing for sure, I am VERY happy that she sat through it with me as it was a movie that helped define my childhood. (I don't think she understands that, but that's OK. ^_^ )
So in dedication to this occasion, I give to you the motivational poster that I made about a month ago for the fine folks at BullShido.com...
