My Fresh Squeezin's (Blogger)

Ahh, the freshly squozen thoughts of Dalum. I try to post as often as I can, but sometimes life is just too busy to get stuff out in a reasonable amount of time. Please enjoy my random thoughts and drop me a line if you like.

2/17/2006 11:23:00 AM - Dishwashers and electricity

Well, our dishwasher has been on the fritz for the past coule of months.  It was only a problem when a fork or a wooden spoon would drop down below the baskets to jam the spinny sprayer thingies.  It would just trip the breaker.  Not this last time.  The thing made this amazingly loud buzzing noise that sounded like a Jacob's Ladder powering up.  Neither Nyracat or I were in the room the first time to reallllly see what happened.  All we got was a bit of electrical smoke and the noise.  The next day/last night, we emptied out the washer and ran it to get the batch of water out of the bottom.  Big mistake.  We were eating tacos at the dinner table and the machine was chuggin' away without any problems.  All of a sudeden that same electrical noise came booming through the kitchen.  This time seeing was believing.  Some motor or connection was getting overloaded and it was arcing brightly in the kitchen.  Eventually the thing spiked high enough where the breaker tripped downstairs.  Quite a bit of electrical smoke came pouring out this time.  I think I'll be done with messing with that thing for a while till the landlord sends his guy out to take a look.
